J Middleton I had been searching for a long time for something that sounds like TOWERS. the entire album builds a storm cloud of darkness and sludge over your head and forces you to move with the noises it emits. absolutely love the entire piece, but I set Hell as my favourite track as it forces me, like hands clawing to pry my eyes open, to imagine a long, terrible path to Hell on which this track follows you like a wraith. owning this on vinyl feels like owning an ancient curse. Favorite track: Hell.

Nic Brown When I heard Towers was a drum & bass outfit, well, I love the Metalheadz roster as much as the next man, but this wasn't quite what I had in mind. "II" is a trip into the realm of psychedelic dub metal, so monstrously heavy, it makes Evil Blizzard (who outnumber Towers 4:1 bass-wise) sound reserved. Hopelessly addictive. Favorite track: The Door at the End of the Hall.

about

TOWERS, Portland's apocalyptic bass-and-drums duo, has dragged and scraped chunks and shards from all the darkest sonic territories to assemble a heavy monster in its own image. Both primitive and futurist, TOWERS transcends musical movements, molding Promethean monoliths out of doom, sludge, no wave, new wave, industrial, and psychedelia. On their second LP II TOWERS purposefully shifts through a procession of primal mutant grooves, oscillating hooks, sludgy crawls, cavernous experimental explorations, and haunting, swinging marches forward marked by the barked invocations of a Teutonic chief—Hell is coming!—and ghostly incantations of the wounded and beaten. II is a huge, enveloping beast of a record that captures the unique crushing intensity of their live performances. TOWERS rules the Wasteland.
